TRUST & VERIFICATION

Trust is built by showing what has been checked — and what has not.

Agricultural procurement depends on reliable information about the commodity, the source, the documentation and the fulfilment process.

Thomas & Tayo is designed to represent these statuses clearly rather than treating every listing as equally verified.

Our Verification Approach

Depending on the transaction, the Platform may capture or verify:

  • Organisation

Identity and approval status of the participating buyer, supplier or warehouse operator.

  • Warehouse

Warehouse location, operator information and relevant certification or licence references.

  • Commodity Lot

Commodity, variety, grade, quantity, packaging, crop season and availability.

  • Seller Authority

Information confirming who owns the commodity or has authority to offer it.

  • Warehouse Receipt

Receipt reference and permitted validation status where a Warehouse Receipt System lot is involved.

  • Quality

Available certificates, laboratory results, inspection reports or supporting quality documents.

  • Inventory Freshness

The date and time inventory was most recently confirmed.

  • Fulfilment

Release, loading, dispatch, delivery and proof-of-delivery records.

The information represented depends on the transaction and applicable process; inclusion does not mean that every item has been independently verified.

Understanding Status Labels

  • Verified

Relevant information has been validated through the applicable approved or authorised process.

  • Confirmed

The supplier or warehouse has recently reconfirmed the information for the transaction.

  • Indicative

Information is available for sourcing purposes but requires confirmation before a firm transaction.

  • Pending Verification

Validation is underway or documentation is still required.

  • Restricted

The commodity or lot cannot currently be represented as freely available.

  • Suspended

The lot has been removed from active sourcing pending review.

Warehouse Receipts

The Platform records status — it does not replace the Warehouse Receipt System.

Where commodities are represented by warehouse receipts:

  • Official validity checks should use authorised mechanisms.
  • Receipt references may be recorded for traceability.
  • Permitted validation status may be displayed.
  • Any title transfer, pledge, release or similar statutory process remains within the authorised Warehouse Receipt System.
  • Restricted registry information must not be obtained through unauthorised access.

Quality Verification

Commodity quality requirements differ by buyer, commodity and use.

The Platform can support:

  • Grade information
  • Commodity specifications
  • Quality certificates
  • Laboratory documents
  • Inspection records
  • Buyer-specific acceptance requirements

Where an independent inspection is required, Thomas & Tayo may coordinate an appropriate quality-assurance provider.

Transaction Traceability

Important commercial events can be recorded against the transaction, including:

  • RFQ submission
  • Offer confirmation
  • Lot allocation
  • Quotation version
  • Buyer acceptance
  • Inventory reservation
  • Order milestones
  • Document upload
  • Delivery
  • Payment status reference
  • Exceptions and resolutions

The MVP does not independently operate:

  • An anonymous order book
  • Automated exchange-style bid/ask matching
